Hi everyone. Forgive me if this info is somewhere else on the forums, I've looked and looked and can't find anything.
I am a total noob and don't know anything beyond user information. Most of the stuff I read on here I don't understand.
I am trying to install the latest version of ubuntu to dual-boot on my laptop alongside vista. I really want to learn how this stuff works....
I downloaded the iso and burned it to cd (properly, not as another iso). I told the computer to boot from cd and it gave me the ubuntu logo and seemed to be working fine... but then instead of an install menu I got an error.
(initramfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed. input/output error
Can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs
I can't understand the error message because I'm not educated enough in programming and I don't know what to do next. All I get is that it can't mount it for some reason.
I was under the impression from the ubuntu site that I don't need to manually partition the drives first, or anything like that, it's all supposed to be on the cd. I'm sure I just did something wrong somewhere... but idk what.
Help?????????????????
